| TAA'S HISTORY |
The Turkish-American Association (TAA) is a long-established and prestigious non-governmental organization established in 1951 as a result of a bilateral agreement between Turkey and the United States. The Turkish-American Association, the founding members of which can be named as Minister of National Education Tevfik İleri, Deputy Cemal Köprülü, Deputy Halide Edip Adıvar, Istanbul University Rector Ömer Saraç, U.S. Ambassador to Turkey George Wadsworth, Robert College Principal Floyd Black, continues to carry out its activities in its own building located at Cinnah Caddesi 20, Kavaklıdere-Ankara.
CULTURAL PROGRAMS:
Established to promote understanding between Turks and Americans; to strengthen the friendship and the cultural ties between the two countries, the TAA, for more than half a century, has been organizing a wide range of cultural activities such as conferences, panels, lectures, seminars, presentations on varied topics which form Turkey’s agenda and on all branches of the sciences and fine arts; art exhibitions, concerts, musicals, drama performances by local and international artists, tours, film festivals, special receptions, special nights and much more.
ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
The Turkish-American Association which celebrated its 55th founding anniversary in June 2006 with a reception attended by U.S. Ambassador Ross Wilson and Minister of National Education Hüseyin Çelik, has been offering for more than 55 years high-quality cultural programs and English language courses for thousands of Turkish citizens most of whom had registered to language courses during their formative years and then became leaders in the business and cultural arena, and supported other establishments offering educational programs.
The TAA, which obtained the “Private Education Institution” status of the Turkish Ministry has been and continues to be an institution to which government offices and private institutions and companies send their employees for language education.
The TAA, which registered its name in 2006, has taken important steps to spread across Turkey the vast experience that it has in the educational arena and opened private TAA language schools in Konya and Çayyolu in 2006 and new TAA language schools are about to open in Bahçelievler and Denizli.
