CONFERENCES, LECTURES, SEMINARS, PRESENTATIONS:
Throughout the year the Programs Department organized selected conferences, seminars and panel discussions on topics of general interest and hot topics which occupied the agenda in Turkey and abroad. During the 2010-2011 Program year, TAA organized at its own facilities:

• Panel Discussion: “Women’s Political Participation: Domestic and International Perspectives”
The panel, sponsored by the Embassy of Norway, organized with outstanding support of Dr. Nancy Walker, was a major success both in terms of audience participation and the informative presentations given by the Ambassador of Norway, the Ambassador of South Africa and Prof. Ayşe Ayata.

• Panel Discussion: “Turkish Economy Inside Out”
World Bank Turkey Director Ulrich Zachau, U.S. Embassy Commercial Attaché Thomas Bruns and Dr. Süreyya Serdengeçti, former Central Bank governor, enlightened the audience with the speeches that touched on very important topics such as the economic and social agenda of Turkey, the Turkish business environment, Turkey’s economic performance in 2010 amid global crisis and more.

• Panel Discussion: “New Dimensions in Turkish American Business Relations”
Commercial Counselor Michael Lally and Economic Counselor Laird Traiber who talked about business opportunities between Turkey and the U.S. and recent developments.

Informative Seminars/Lectures/Presentations:
• Lecture: “Diabetes Mellitus and Thyroid Diseases,”
   organized in cooperation with TOBB-ETU Hospital

• Presentation: “Louisiana Foodways”
   organized in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy to mark African-American History Month

• Conference: “A New Form of Life”
   given by Dr. Neva Çiftçioğlu Banes, Nobel Prize nominee medical researcher and the first    female scientist to work for NASA,

• Seminar: “U.S. Visa Options for Professionals”
   by U.S. Immigration Attorney Greg Berk
