WHAT’S TEFL PLUS?
TEFL PLUS is a comprehensive teacher training course that will prepare you for a teaching job anywhere in the world. The course is composed of two components :

1.
TEFL Online : The online course takes about 60 hours to complete.  Students are free to choose the time and pace at which they will take the course, but they must complete specified modules in time to participate in the TEFL PLUS sessions described below.   Upon successful completion of the TEFL Online program, you will have your U.S. accredited, internationally recognized online certificate and be ready for an English teaching position in Turkey and overseas.

TEFL Online consists of 12 modules covering ESL/ EFL teaching basics, video tutorials, open-book review quizzes and written assignments for each module. Additional sections include a glossary of terms, a resource library for teachers, and a guide to getting a job overseas. Upon enrollment in the TEFL Online, you will be assigned your own personal tutor who will grade your assignments and help guide you through th course.

TEFL PLUS Teaching Practice: The TEFL Online is a great program, but it is limited in one important respect – classroom practice and live discussion.  The Turkish American Association has worked with the authors of the TEFL Online to develop TEFL PLUS, a rigorous in-class supplement to the TEFL Online.  The TEFL PLUS gives you the opportunity to practice what you have learned in a real classroom with real students under the supervision of TAA’s highly skilled and experienced ELT instructors.

In the TEFL PLUS course, you will be guided by an experienced senior instructor in a classroom setting at the TAA facilities in Kavaklıdere. TEFL PLUS focuses on classroom observation, lesson planning, the teaching of all skills: reading, writing, grammar, speaking, vocabulary and listening and basics of testing and proctoring an exam. The course will also shed light on the local teaching opportunities as well as the local teaching culture.
